The Public Service Commission initiated the Relay Utah program in 1987 with the goal to provide telecommunication access for deaf, hard of hearing and speech challenged individuals. Relay Utah is a free public service enabling people with hearing or speech challenges to communicate with standard telephone users. Relay Utah is provided through Sprint Relay and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Calls handled through Relay Utah are strictly confidential.
Relay Utah also provides telecommunication equipment at no cost for qualified individuals. Examples of telecommunications equipment include amplified, CapTel and other types of equipment designed to assist individuals with hearing or speech challenges.
